1970 - 1981
1970 Joined Georgie Fame and the Blue Flames. Toured USA Sweden, France and Germany. Recorded second Quintet Album TCB (Tony Levin, John Taylor, Chris Laurence and Malcolm Griffiths)
1971 Concerts with Mike Gibbs, Mike Westbrook, Chris McGregor's Brotherhood of Breath and Ian Carr's Nucleus Festival in Northern Ireland with Mike Gibbs Orchestra and guest Gary Burton. Won Melody Maker Jazz Poll, Tenor Saxophone. (Also 1972/73/74).
1973 Formed SOS with John Surman and Mike Osborne. Toured Italy,
Germany and France. Co-wrote and performed music for a Ballet
Sablier Prison at the Paris Opera House, featuring 12 dancers.
1974 Concert at Queen Elizabeth Hall, London with SOS Appeared with own Trio at Ronnie Scott's Club, London with Charles Mingus.

Start of a lifelong friendship -

1976-1982 Toured and recorded with George Gruntz Concert Jazz Band featuring, Joe Henderson, Elvin Jones, Jimmy Knepper, Charlie Mariano, Neils Orsted Pedersen, Woody Shaw, Joe Farrell, Peter Erskine, Tom Harrell.
1978 Formed SOH (Skidmore, Oxley and Haurand) touring Europe extensively for 6 years.
1981 Guest soloist for 3 years with West German Radio and Television, Cologne Televised concert in Hamburg, George Gruntz's 'Tribute to Duke Ellington Orchestra', featuring Clark Terry and Britt Woodman. Televised Concert in Baden-Baden, Germany 'Tribute to John Coltrane' featuring Rashid Ali, Albert Mangelsdorf and Thomas Stanko Represented BBC at the Belgrade Jazz Festival with SOH Capital Radio Jazz Festival at Ronnie Scott’s, London
