April 27 sees Alan interviewed by Alan Yentob for a forthcoming BBC documentary
tribute to John Coltrane. The programme called A Love Supreme will mark the 40th
anniversary of the release of Coltrane's superb album in 1964. Skid's deep
knowledge of John Coltrane's work will be sure to make a great contribution to
the programme. Watch the site for details of transmission.
It's all change for the Alan Skidmore Quartet - well 50% change anyway. For Alan's next
residency at Ronnie Scott's from 17th May, Mike Gorman will take over the piano
stool, Aidan O'Donnell will take over duties on double bass and Paddy O'Flaherty will be
in his usual place at the drum kit. Check out the new line up from 17-22 May.
After last November's successful tour with Ubizo, Alan is delighted that
they will be reunited for a week at Ronnie Scott's in the autumn
(dates to be announced later). Other venues will be included on the tour
schedule - so watch the Gig guide for details.
